Last Thursday i rebooted my PC remotely and on reboot it failed to load into the Windows 7 desktop. It will load into Recovery Mode but no further. As i'm remote from the PC i had a technician look at it for me but he said it needs a clean install. This is the last resort i think and given more time there must be a way to fix the issue without wiping the drive.
I was wondering if i do get the PC going when i try myself, will the data automatically upload from the console taking into account the downtime would have been 6 weeks?
Also if i do need to re-install whats the best practice when moving to a new OS install? What folder/files do i need to copy to have a smooth transition?? Thanks in advance
Mike

Mike. Windows 7 is pretty smart at correcting itself. Perhaps a "repair install" is all that is required but not possible remotely.
Clean install is easier for the technician with less problems and quicker but then you need to set up all your additional software. Also all them Windows 7 updates would be required.

Thats what i was thinking myself that a repair install would fix it without much bother. The technician insisted he tried everything but personally i don't think he did. He wanted 125 euros to do a clean install and save my Cumulus FoldersSuper-T wrote:Mike. Windows 7 is pretty smart at correcting itself. I told him i would rather leave the site down for 5 weeks than pay 125 euros for what i could do myself when i get back home.

Yes, if the Cumulus data is unchanged, and your logger has all of the data for that period.mickopla wrote:When i start it up will Cumulus download the data from the past 8 days automatically ??
