They should be the same, yes. If you zip up the diags file, I'll see if I can see anything. The pragmatic solution might be to not display 'rain since midnight' at all, as it's the same for you as 'rain today', but it might be an indication of some other problem, so it's worth investigating.

Your 'midnight' rain counter value is the same as your 'start of day' rain counter value, so it's hard to see how the calculation can come out differently:

08/01/2012 00:00:00.126 : Midnight rain reset, count = 47.40 time = 08/01/2012
08/01/2012 00:00:01.126 : Writing today.ini, LastUpdateTime = 07/01/2012 23:55:00 raindaystart = 47.4000015258789 rain counter = 47.4000015258789

Could you please show me the code you are using on your web page template to display the rain since midnight? And, indeed, your 'rain in the last 24 hours', because that's clearly wrong too. Attaching the entire file will probably be easiest.

Yes, the file that you have edited to add the 'rain since midnight' and 'rain in last 24 hours' items (I don't think they are in the file as supplied with Cumulus as standard?) which would normally be called indexT.htm.

You've hard coded the values 0.6 and 1.2 instead of using web tags.

<tr class="td_rainfall_data">
<td>Rainfall&nbsp;Since&nbsp;Midnight</td>
<td>0.6&nbsp;mm</td>
<td>Rainfall&nbsp;Last&nbsp;24&nbsp;Hours</td>
<td>1.2&nbsp;mm</td>
<tr>
