Spike Removal - Error Light

Post by nking »

I use the spike removal feature but have fallen foul on more than one occassion Note: "Be careful in your choice of values; if the difference is genuine, (i.e. not a 'spike') and exceeds your supplied value, then that reading will be 'stuck' at the previous value until a new reading returns to within your supplied difference."

The flat line is the only obvious means of noticing that the feature has been invoked and got stuck (restarting Cumulus over comes the problem). Having the error light flash with a message of Spike Removal Invoked would be really helpful. I'm happy to raise an enhancement request if this is a practicle/sensible suggestion.

I wouldn't be hard to do, just very tedious duplicating the messages which are currently logged to the diags file. I think it would probably need to be optional?

Thanks for the tip re Diags file as searching on "reading ignored" has turned up some surprising results!! It proves how valuable the feature is and that I need to spend some time going through mine to ensure I have appropriate values. Too large and I'll be getting spike errors and too small and I'll loose data.
I see why you would make it optional but would it be as tedious if the error light/message just stated spike removal invoked review diags for details?

I've realised that there's an easier way to do it that wouldn't be quite as tedious

Should I therefore be so bold as to raise an enhancement request :)

It's probably best if you do, because I don't know when I'll get around to doing this, and I have a memory like... one of those orange things that people sometimes keep in small tanks?
