My wife should take the credit, she designed them. Then I took them and broke them, basically

I should have guessed a lady was involved with the serene pink scheme and photo of a seabird. :D

Ray,

I went out and just noticed your detailed reply. Thank you so much (before I try it and if I have problems, I'll buzz you later).

Thanks again,

George

Ray,

I don't have an "Expansion_Modules" folder in the WeatherLink (5.8.1) tree. Do I create one under "WeatherLink"?

George,

You have a very old version of WL. My earliest one was 5.8.3 and I'm now running 5.9.3. Before you can upgrade to 5.9.3 you may need to update the firmware on the Vue. I have a VP2 but things may be different for the Vue.

Check the Davis website. http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather ... _sftwr.asp

Regarding that missing folder you could just try creating it and saving the DLL there. Open WL and see if you can enable that module. If you can then you should be alright.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

If you can upload historic data using a simple HTTP GET, then it should be fairly trivial to write an Excel spreadsheet where you open the monthly log file, select the range of rows you want, and send the data to WU using the XMLHTTP object (the same one we use in all the Ajax javascript code).

Edit: I think the hard bit would dealing with different units and decimal separators.

Ray,

Running VP2's. Don't "use" WL so I just run it along with the rest with VVP. Will muddle along and see what works.

Thanks,

Thanks Ray,
Worked great. Had some concerns as it dropped out every 12 to 24 hrs but could never have gotten it done otherwise. Took around an hour to catch up 6 days. If it wouldn't have hung, it probably would not have been a 10 minute job.
Thanks again.

steve wrote:The WU 'catch up' facility is not for recovering from internet outages, WU outages etc. It simply uploads data to WU that it downloads from the station's logger when it starts up after it hasn't been running for a while, to fill in data that it 'missed' while it wasn't running. As it was running at the time, there was no missed data, hence no 'catch up' to do.

I don't know of any easy way to manually enter data into WU. The only way I know of is to use the HTTP 'GET' protocol which Cumulus itself uses: http://wiki.wunderground.com/index.php/ ... d_Protocol
Steve,

Could you explain the process of the 'WU catch up' that you are using? Maybe I can do some tricks using VB or PHP scripting for help those users to recover from Internet outages.

There's not much to explain. After it's processed each entry from the station's logger and updated its data, it constructs a WU upload URL in the required format using the current data, and stores it away in a list. When it's finished downloading the logger data, it kicks off a thread which processes the list of URLs, sending them to WU one at a time.

I managed to reload puter in the evening, and did not noticed that Cumulus was not up till early in the morning.
Restarted Cumulus, but no catch up took place - it just sent a one squirt of data, and is gone.

Will have to do debugging when I am home after work.

The data is showing all time at weatherlink, so console is working, and internet is working. For some reason uploads to WU were never caught up and are not up.

More later.

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I may be able to see why the WU catch up didn't happen.

Looks like the host machine had some other issues - running Cumulus on XP under VMware on the Mac :-).

Restarted everything, and this time Cumulus downloaded some records, and executed catch-up. Did not wanted to play with trying to force Cumulus to load records from the night, since right now I am setting and testing everything - so I see that it will catch up if it was closed.

Great, thanks for the prompt reply.

BTW - did anyone told you that you wrote a great software ? Thanks a bunch. You sig is duly noted.
Also - add me to another guy asking for an option to re-upload an arbitrary period of time..
