WH1081 pressure readings

Hi all,

new to this site and weather in general although have been interested a while. Got a Maplin WH1081 for Christmas and all set up and running using the Cumulus software [latest version 1.9.2 build 1026]

Anyway all seems fine but I'm getting a difference between the pressure reading displayed on my stations display and on Cumulus of about 5 points. Cumulus always displays a higher reading by this amount and I don't understand why this should be. The station readout is accurate compared to my local met office station which is only about 1 mile away. This reading only varies by about 0.5 to 1 point.

I did have a look at the readme files and do a search of the forum and wiki page but came up with no answers so any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ian

You are probably looking at 'station pressure' on your console; Cumulus displays 'sea-level' pressure. Have you set the sea-level pressure on your console?

Just to add - the console calls 'station' pressure 'absolute' and displays the letters "abs" when this is being displayed. The console calls 'sea-level' pressure 'relative' and displays the letters "rel" when this is being displayed.

Steve,

thanks for your quick reply. I notice that the console does say abs so I guess this explains the difference. I think I set the sea level on the console but will double check this in case I forget to change this.

Thanks,

Ian
