Post by Pat »

Having spent last two hours trying to get it right - thought I should ask for help!
Have loaded files into what i think is the correct structure but can't seem to get them to update.

Any thoughts appreciated

Looks fine, except - you seem to have ftp'd the template files (indexT.htm etc) to your web site? These stay on your PC, and Cumulus creates the corresponding 'real' web pages from them (index.htm etc). The template files have 'tags' in them that look like this: <#temp> and every N minutes (whatever you've configured) Cumulus processes the file, replacing the tags with the actual values - so <#temp> gets replaced by the current outside temperature.

Cumulus then uploads the resulting web pages (index.htm etc) to your web site - assuming you have correctly configured the internet settings. The 'directory' is the one that people seem to struggle with, and unfortunately it's the one I can't help with as it depends on how your hosting is set up. If you've set everything up and the pages aren't updating, then it's likely to be the directory that's the problem. Turning on the ftp logging (creates a file called ftplog.txt in the Cumulus folder) can help to show any problems.

Thanks Steve - betwen you and beeteljuice you have solved the problem. It was directory related and understanding that I did not need to copy the files.

For others benefit - I was using Core ftp le. The directory had to be /www.myweathersite.co.uk/cumulus

where "www.myweathersite.co.uk" was my hosted space and "cumulus" the directory
