Indoor data appearing on web page

Post by MagicFountain »

I'm in the process of adding cumulus to my web site but I'm not keen on having my indoor house temperature and humidity on public display. Is there any way of preventing this info from appearing on the web page.

Yes, you can edit the pages so that they display whatever you want. Edit the 'templates' in the web folder - the files with 'T' in them. Or create your own pages from scratch, or based on the existing pages.

I should have mentioned that you can remove the indoor humidity plot from the humidity graph (right-click on it in Cumulus). To remove the indoor temperature graph and its thumbnail, you'll have to edit the html as I said earlier.

Note that the indoor temperature graph images will still be uploaded, so if someone knew they were there, they could view them. If you see that as a problem, you will have to untick 'include standard images' and list the others individually. Unfortunately, you can only list 10 on the screen, and a further 10 by editing cumulus.ini. I think there are 22 images in total excluding the indoor temperature graphs. You could create a batch file to use a command-line ftp program to upload them instead of letting Cumulus do it.

Not sure what you mean by "the indoor temperature graph images will still be uploaded". I've edited the relevant html files as suggested, the "trends" and "gauges" pages load as before but without the indoor graphs or gauges appearing. This is exactly what I wanted. If they are still uploading, I can't easily see them on the web site.

The indoor temperature graphs are still being uploaded and are still accessible on the web. You've just removed the link to them from your page. If you know how to find them, you can view them without needing a link on your site. For example, here's my indoor temperature graph:

Ah, right I understand, I can see them through my ftp client. I'm happy with that though. As long as the average viewer won't find them easily, that's fine.
