I assume that you have only started using Cumulus today? There seems to be a way that a blank dayfile.txt can be created, and using the built-in dayfile editor in those circumstances causes it to crash. Using the dayfile.txt editor when you have no dayfile.txt file (on the first day) can also cause it to create an empty dayfile.txt itself, but this is fixed in the latest build, and you are not using the latest build, so the first thing you need to do is to install the latest build.

If this is indeed the first day you have used Cumulus, you can delete the empty dayfile.txt file from the data folder.

Hi steve,

Well I have been using Cumulus for 2 days today will be day 3.

Last night I download the last modification 1025. A question to install the last modification 1025 I must eliminate the previous one first? Or can I install it directly on this?

And thank you for your advice, Cumulus It is an incredible program!!!

Regards,

Raymer

You can just install over the existing one (this is in the FAQ and the readme.txt). I've uploaded build 1026 now, you should use that. Your dayfile.txt shouldn't be empty if you've been using Cumulus for three days. Are you allowing your PC to hibernate?

Hi steve,

Ok I will install today 1026...

No my PC does not hibernate, it only just turns off the screen.

Regards,

Ray.

You should have some entries in dayfile.txt, then, so there's some sort of problem somewhere. What does your min/max/average temperature graph look like?

Hi Steve,

I have install build 1026 and I still have de same error:

28/12/2011 11:56:57 a.m. : Error plotting charts at line 1 of dayfile.txt: '06:40' is not a valid floating point value
28/12/2011 11:56:57 a.m. : Please correct the error by editing dayfile.txt
28/12/2011 11:56:57 a.m. : Error plotting charts at line 2 of dayfile.txt: '07:20' is not a valid floating point value
28/12/2011 11:56:57 a.m. : Please correct the error by editing dayfile.txt

See attach file for the min/max/average temperature graph, the temperatures here are a bit high, I am located in the central coast of Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea. (tropics)

regards,

Raymer

Well, not really the same error, because now your dayfile.txt isn't empty, but there is some other problem with it. If you attach it, I'll have a look.

You didn't attach the dayfile.txt, that's the file with the problem. Your very low temperature readings and very high rain readings will probably be the usual Fine Offset problems; you can use the 'spike removal' settings in Cumulus to try to work around them.

On the Calibrations settings from the configuration menu.
See attach file.
The problem is that your system is using a comma for a list separator and for a decimal separator. That can't work, anything like Cumulus which processes lists with decimals in them can't tell what the comma is supposed to be:

26/12/11,28,315,13:47,22,6,06:40,30,2,12:01,1005,3,19:25,1016,4,09:16,392,4,18:34,0,0,26,1,85,4,18,13:17,52,09:05,74,18:13,0,00,0,0,33,9,12:01,34,9,12:01,24,0,06:06,32,7,18:01,22,6,06:40,22,7,13:31,14,0,06:06,119,0,0,8,3

Your December log file will have the same problem. You will have to correct your Windows settings and then either delete the files or edit them with a text editor to correct them.
