hi all My name is Marshall
just registered and wondering if I'm up to the challenge. this is how its gone so far.

Nov 24th Bought WH1080 and took this long to set it up and get running on easyweather, then after about a week by chance came across Cumulus, decided to have a go and now it seems to be working . but that is the end of my comfort zone.

I'm thinking of doing the web site thing but thats another story

Looking forword to meeting people on the forum

Regards
Marshall

Hi Marshall

Welcome to Cumulus!

It shouldn't be a problem setting up the website, just follow the instructions in the wiki at the top of the page.

Best of luck! :)

Marshall,
Cumulus seen by chance and working (by luck) next hurdle the web site??!!!
Exactly my own situation some time ago but with the help of the members here and the ease of Cumulus you will have your own site nearly as quick as you can get a domain name and host service.

A warm Christmas welcome,
Paul

Welcome to the forum. It's worth taking time to look at the FAQ's and Wiki as often answers are there.

Hello,

similar to Marshall, I'm a newbie, have recently registered and have WH1080 also. I'd be delighted to get any help from willing individuals. The weather station is working fine however taking it to the next step with regard to FTP, webspace, domains, configuration etc. is a new challenge. I did manage to get a website uploaded on 17th December (www.shelmalier.com) but havn't been able to update it since. I got there by trial & error and a degree of luck!

Thanks in advance. I look forward to hearing from like minded weather & website rookies.

Andy

Welcome newbies
One tip, sometime our ISP's have personal web space that you can upload your site too.

Still trying to configure my Cumulus website & referring to wiki section on websites. Managed to upload it at least once a few week ago but not sure how I did and now it's hit or miss trying to find correct configuration settings.

Is FTP server name the same as my domain name or is it the a server name of my hosting company. I'm hosted over GoDaddy in the USA.

Thanks,

Andy

It could be anything; you'll have to get the login details from your web space provider. ftp.shelmalier.com does resolve, however, and seems to be accepting ftp logins.

Hi All
Many thanks for your many replies. I am most gratefull for them.
It seems everyone is willing to help, and as a first question, I have been on my providers website and found they can allow me a 15Megabyte webspace, would this be enough space to make a satisfactory website.

hope you all had a good christmas/
