For those in the southern hemisphere, Comet Lovejoy is quite spectacular in the morning sky now. I've had lots of stormy and cloudy weather recently, wth 60mm in a storm yesterday, but there was a brief period this morning when the cloud wasn't too bad.

Excellent Gordan. Can I ask, what is the best way to get updates on upcoming celestial events (here in Australia)? I'd like to be ready with my telescope and camera!

Michael, spaceweather.com is a good one to keep an eye on for bright comets and aurora, not that Darwin is ideally located for aurora observing ;)
