Hi all,
sorry but newbie here....
I have a site and I have now included a link to my weather station data.
But
I have a number of problems...

1. sometimes the data does not arrive for display.
2. I can't display all the guages , only the last three show.
3. sometime the three that show are only partly there.

Regards

I think you'll need to post a link to your site before anyone will be able to assist you based upon the information you've provided. Welcome to the forum by the way.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for that, I will do so shortly..
I have now found its not the ftp side of things, because the htm files
are first created on the Cumulus folder on the hdd.... if I look them they are
also incomplete.
so I'm unsure what changes I would have to make. as I have made none so far to
any of the templates ...

Not sure if the author reads here, for if he does for his information...
Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. 4Gig Ram, 3.Ghz processor.

My link to the site would be http://www.sseg.co.uk/links.html
Pressing East Ayton WX will link to the weather information.

Your web pages look like they have been processed and uploaded OK to me. What you are missing is all the static files and folders that you have to upload manually to the web site.

He drops by from time to time

As Mark says, Cumulus is creating your pages correctly, you just need to follow the instructions for setting up your web site.

Edit: when I looked again at your site, it's clear that it's more than just the lack of the setup files:

Are you saying that this is what the pages look like (i.e. truncated) on your PC? Please attach an example.

Hi All,
as per my last the files are not being generated completely..
I checked in the Cumulus area and they are not completed there...
So it's not the ftp side of things.

Yes that's whats happening, truncated pages....

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the software. build 1023 I think it is...

Please attach an example from your PC. Please also zip up the diags folder and attach it. To be honest, though, I have no idea what the problem would be or how to fix it. The most likely explanation would be something on your PC interrupting the creation of the files, anti-virus or something. The diags files might just show something.

Steve,
Thanks for the response.
Plot so far, I reinstalled completely. I am still getting the problem.
(At some point I'll ask if I can reinstall the data from the previous copy).
I think if it was AntiVirus or Firewall I would get the same problem every time.
I have set the debug and ftp debug running.
I have to go out for a few hours, so will sort out the zip of files when I return.
Hectic Christmas time eh!

To the best of my knowledge the last 4 times its been OK, however the 0715 and 0730 were not. but timing was such that I missed the copies and because of the reinstall I'd not set the debug stuff.

Right
Hopefully the attached might make some sense.
Can't fathom why te 550 error, because everytime I connect from other ftp clients I have never seen it.
The web page software I am using also uses ftp and so far not had a fail.
Perhaps a hint as to what the actual setting in 'Internet' config I could change?
I have changed them a number of times but seem to get the error whatever I have them at.

[EDIT]
When the attached was done the site was half pages etc, but currently all OK

Those html pages are all complete, as far as I can tell. Do you not think so?

Regarding the ftp settings, you need to look at the help. There's no point having 'delete' and 'rename' set, for example. Ideally you would just have 'rename' set. Did you need to set 'active mode' to get it to work at all? If not, turn it off. It would have been better to consult the help rather than changing settings at random.

Hi
Thanks, all day today the home copies have been fine, but the actual site ones are incomplete.
ftp... well as I said I have tried various setting, that was merely the latest.

I've dropped ftp settings back to the suggested.

ftp log, show consistant 550 errors, which is 'requested action not taken or unavailable'.

I'll see what happens this PM and how many times the site is not complete onthe site, but complete at home end.

PS I have read the help, the settings are those of a desperate man :D thrashing in the depths of WHY's... Why me's and Bl***y Computers :!: .

The errors you were getting before were on the 'delete' action because you had both 'delete before upload' and 'rename' set. It was trying to delete the temporary file, which of course didn't exist because it had been renamed. Presumably now you don't have 'delete...' selected so the error is not the same?

Have you spoken with FastHosts? I have experienced 550's only to find out that my hosting service needed to make Admin changes after which it was OK.

HI all,
Observations:
I have left 'this' computer for a few hours, watching the site with another. Not seen a fault on the ones i've looked at.
Now when I've been seeing the faults I've always been working on this computer.

Is there a link maybe?

FollowUp:
left to it's own devices this computer has uploaded 5 times this AM.
Out of these uploads two have failed. I followed up with File|webUpdate and they were fine.
There were no major software packages running during this time , no backups, no email collection.

Is anyone else seeing this problem or is it just me?

The only other software running in the background is diskkeeper with auto defrag running. But that does not use any comms protocols to the outside world.

I've tried alternative software, my actual web page software allows me to ftp data to the site.
I have tried this in the form of uploading the same site data (.htm files) about 6 times in two minutes. No errors on the page.

I'm going to clear the old ftplog and leave it logging for a few hours see what turns up.
