WS2080 sensor error

I have a WS2080 and for the past month I have been getting more sensor errors or lost connection to snesor. I am about well with in the 100ft of line of sight with only 1 wall. Has anyone heard of making the telephone lines longer so that the outdoor sensor can be placed further out than the rain / wind gages are?

Hi David
I had similar problems when a neighbour put up a similar station.
I moved my transmitter nearer to the house and used about 15 metres of cable to the wind sensors. The rain sensor is only about 4 metres away on a flat roof. It also enabled me to run the transmitter from a 3V transformer.

Alan

Hi David,
Yes you can extend the wind and/or rain cables. Make sure that the extension cable has four cores for the wind sensor and avoid cables with a large "strain relief sleeve" as it may jam in the "Stevenson screen". Also ensure that water can't get onto any of the contacts.
RJ11 "Extension" cables are available, but normal male-male cables plus a back-to-back (female) "coupler" might be easier/cheaper to obtain. These are "telephone" cables in much of the World, but only used for "broadband" in the UK.
Cheers,
Alan.

Hi
I did have a few problems even before my neighbour's "interference" which I eventually found to be the RJ connectors - not the best quality and prone to damp. In the end I opted to dispense with the connectors and solder in the extension cables - no problems since.
