Cumulus Support

I was given my Fine Offset for Christmas 2008. In the three years since then, the outside humidity readings have become less and less reliable and now, apart from the odd "spike" seem to be permanently set at 99. Here are three graphs for Oct to December 2009, 10 and 11 which illustrate the problem.

While I'm not too worried about humidity readings - for me they're the least important data - I would like to get it recording properly. Can anyone advise me as to whether the sensor itself has probably packed up, or are there any checks I could carry out to see if I could get it working again? (I have to confess I'm not actually sure where the humidity sensor is located!)

The humidity sensor is in the external transmitter unit, see this sticky thread, but I don't think anybody has found a source of a spare sensor component. You might be able to "clean" it and there was a thread recently about calibrating humidity sensors using saturated salt solutions.

Spare transmitter units can be purchased for around £30 but you need to ensure that you get the correct transmitter frequency. IMHO it's probably better to buy a complete new system (especially if you have a Clas Ohlson store nearby) to give you spares for any other sensor which mighht fail.

The one you are suggesting I buy for £59.99 is the N96GY. They look identical from the illustrations; can anyone tell me what the difference is?

AFAIK the only possible difference is that the newer kit may use the 868 MHz radio transmission frequency. Not really significant unless you want to use two consoles with one transmitter.

IMHO these FO kits are not worth over £100, there are plenty of reputable sellers for less than £100, even some for the new units with additional solar data.
