Hi all,

Thank you for your extremely helpful input and advice.

The ‘ideal’ set up for me would be to have the anemometer, solar and UV sensors together high up above the roof level with the ISS low in my garden. However, since it is currently impossible to mount the anemometer, solar and UV sensors together then I will have to compromise, as most of us have to (especially if married). I will mount the anemometer above the roof level on the house gable end with the ISS slightly lower, so that it can be maintained on a regular basis. As my study is the small bedroom on the other side of the gable end wall I can use a cabled unit.

So today, I have ordered the Vantage Pro2 Plus 6162C along with the daytime fan 7747 and the Weather Link data logger 6510USB from the Archer Trading Post in the USA.

Once again, thank you for your assistance.

Hi John,

Well done in researching your requirements and getting the right kit.

From the advice I've read the anemometer should be 2-3 meters above the roof line so it's not influenced by eddies etc. Mine is about 6-7ft and my highest gust is 46mph - still somewhat lower than the official Met Office site at Woodford but that's in a huge open area.

I looked in to getting my vantage vue from the states because of the price saving. That was until i was informed about the frequency.
They told me that the frequency set on Davis wireless products is the same one as the UK uses for mobiles phones and that I'll encounter allsorts of problems. So i stayed clear of that idea.

Hi all,

Well it finally arrived, ordering the weather station just before Christmas was not a good idea but I couldn't wait. A TV aerial company fitted it on the same day that it came and the new station worked perfectly.

The fun came when I tried to connect the data logger to my computer :bash: the computer just wouldn't recognise the logger. No matter what I tried the two would not communicate. So I came to this forum and soon found the answer in one of gemini06720's posts. Thanks Ray.

Thank you all for all your helpful advice.
