I've just spotted that mine stopped reading the data after a couple of minutes :(

I may have to give up on this new Davis DLL...

Is that with IP or Comm port? Mine still going fine on IP since I last posted, ran fine yesterday as afr as getting data was concerned.

Comm port. It just seemed to get worse and worse; each time I restarted it ran for less time without hanging, down to just a few seconds. So I rebooted, and so far it's been running fine for about 20 minutes. I'll leave it a while longer, then try stopping it and starting again.

Mine has been running now for some 50 minutes with no problems using serial connection to VVP via a virtual comm port. Cant test with a real one though. I'll leave it running like this for today and see what happens....

I restarted and it seems to be running OK still. Maybe my experimenting earlier confused something.

Just to say I've now been running serial via VVP with this version for just over 6 hours with no problems at all. I'll leave it to shutdown tonight and then switch back to IP and give that a good go tomorrow.

Thanks - it's been working fine on serial for me. I could do with a willing victim to try USB, really...

I don't have an USB, but I did put this version (185#708) in production. Upgrade on my weatherserver from version 184#605.
Nothing to report, everything is running fine.

Mine failed to connect again this morning. I had to run the old version first, then the new version could connect. I'll have another look at the Davis documentation (I've already seen a number of errors in it, I had hoped they had sorted it out this time) but I think I'm going to have to give up and go back to the old DLL and remove the USB and TCP/IP support.

Steve mine started up just fine in Comm port mode. Could it be something else which is causing problems with your setup, perhaps you have some old files lying around if this is on your development PC? Mine is running on XP on the test PC by the way.

No problems at all, not on the test-pc with win7, not on working copy on weatherserver winXP home, not on test-pc with winXP Pro
connected to VVP, not to real serial, but virtual comm, and TCPIP

But you're using Virtual VP? But then Jozef is running direct, like me, and doesn't have a problem.

No, it's a separate machine. Also running XP.

The problem is that if I can hit this problem so easily, someone else is bound to, and I can't fix it.

I wonder if it's something to do with firmware versions, mine is quite old, I think: April 10 2006 (EU) is what it says. Yours?

Steve mine is a VP1 with a non-Davis datalogger. The only difference in the logger is that it is supposed to keep a larger amount of data than the usual Davis one, they are no longer manufactured though. Yes mine goes via VVP, its the only way I can run it as I need WD to support my website at present since Cumulus cannot do all I need.
