Should the Rain Gauge be removed for the Winter?

Can it become damaged during the winter freezes or should it be ok remaining on the mounting pole? I realize I won't be getting any data, was just wondering if they can be damaged if I just leave it be.

It may depend on quite how cold it gets there. I've had mine down to -20C (-4F) without any damage.

What are the manufacturers specifications for the gauge? That should be your over-riding consideration.

Mine has spent 2 years in temperatures ranging from -37C to +42C. The internal structure is such that it's not really possible to damage it by freezing, unless perhaps it's drain holes are plugged - in which case it's not working anyhow.
A weather station that does not work in all weather does not sound too useful. Let it be, and save yourself from climbing a pole in the spring.
