Min temp always 0

Post by Swede »

Last couple days (matybe even longer) the Min Temp under Recent Extremes has been 0.

Do I need to edit a file sor something to get it back on track? If so which one?

Thx

Today's low temp is in today.ini. It sounds like your station is sending a data packet with a zero temperature in it - I can't think of any other way that the minimum temperature could be recorded as zero. Does the quoted time for the minimum vary? Does it correspond to a time you started Cumulus up?

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, and give me the times for today and yesterday for the minimum, I'll have a look. If there's nothing obvious, I may need to get you to turn on the debug log until it happens again, so can see the contents of the data packets.

I looked at your web site - you have a similar problem with pressure.

It appears that's the culprit. The times appear to be about when I started up the last couple days.

I have it Diags folder zipped:

Today was 10:34am and yesterday 10:07am

Thx your quick reply.

It looks like the clock on your station needs correcting:

12/4/2011 10:30:54.967 : History data for: 2007-01-23 02:22
12/4/2011 10:30:54.967 : Timestamp is earlier than latest data, ignoring
12/4/2011 10:30:55.139 : Packet:D2 31 17 02 17 01 07 00 00 00 00 00 00 6D 01 00 0C 01 01 07 05 0C 19 E0 00 AE 01 FF 0C 24 0C 34 01 00 BF 00 39 64 00 00 01 4D 00 46 1E 00 00 F5 06
12/4/2011 10:30:55.139 : History data for: 2007-01-23 02:23
12/4/2011 10:30:55.139 : Timestamp is earlier than latest data, ignoring

This results in Cumulus not getting the data it requires to fill in the overnight gap. This also explains your earlier problem where the gap while you were away was not filled in.

Thanks, Steve. The docs with the OS stuff are so absysmal as to be functionally worthless and opaque (at least to me) that I paid no attention to setting anything, especially since I got Cumulus. You can be sure when this WMR200 goes, I'll be going back to Davis. {grin}

BTW the battery settings on C are all blue(?). A few days ago they were all partially green. Does that mean all the sensor batteries need replacing? Even the solar sensor battery was showing green before even though I don't have it set up yet.

I corrected both Date & Time on the WMR200 before starting C. The min temp and min pressure are both still 0f. Presumably, tomorrow they will show a value?

Thx your prompt reply.

The battery indicators for WMR200 stations are either on (full) or off (empty). The actual colours depend on your version of Windows and the theme you are using. The default value is OK (on/full), and the station sets a flag to indicate a poor battery, so any sensor not present will get an OK indication.

Yes, setting the clock won't have corrected any existing data in the logger, but from now on it should start timestamping the entries correctly. So when you start Cumulus tomorrow it should get the overnight data and the minimum values should be OK.

If I understand you correctly, when the batteries are low/bad, the boxes will be blank (white background) otherwise filled (blue in my case). What had me confused is with my old XP machine they were all about 1/3 green and with the the new Win 7 machine they are all full dark blue.

Thx your responses.

Yes, that's right. I should really do simple LEDs with green=good and red=bad, but I've re-used the 'progress bars' that I use for the older Oregon stations which supply a number (0 to 15 I think) indicating battery condition.
What had me confused is with my old XP machine they were all about 1/3 green
I can't explain that, as the code only sets to them to full or empty.

Themes and colours between XP and Win 7 are completely different in appearance and their implementation - if you do any photography and use programs such as Photoshop this is even more apparrent.

I corrected the date and time on the WMR200 two days ago. Both yesterday and today the min temp and min pressure both still show zero.

The clock on your station is still wrong. When Cumulus started at 0943 yesterday (7th Dec), the station sent data for the period from 7th Dec 11.08am...

12/7/2011 09:43:34.333 : History data for: 2011-12-07 11:08

...to 7th Dec 9.42pm

12/7/2011 09:46:49.380 : History data for: 2011-12-07 21:42

It seems to be 12 hours ahead.

Must be what it is. I just changed it to the right time (I hope). The WMR200 display is VERY hard to read. At least for me. I can't make out the difference between am & pm. I just set it to military time (I think, won't know until this afternoon {sigh}). Have to wait until tomorrow to see if the min/press values are correct.

Thanks your time, Steve. Sorry to be such a bother.
