Hi guys,

just wondering if I can get help with some code in regards to web tags like this "<#IsSunUp> gives 1 between sunrise and sunset, otherwise 0"

Im planning to have a sun picture on my webpage when its sunny

I just don't where to start with the code or even what to google to find it..

Hope you can help

Cheers Lyle :D

Bear in mind that <#IsSunUp> just tells you whether it's between dawn and dusk, not whether it's actually sunny.

The easiest way to display an image using <#IsSunUp>, or <#IsSunny> etc, is to have two images, one with a '1' at the end of the file name, and the other with a '0' at the end of the filename. Then put an image link into a file processed by Cumulus, and refer to the file name using the web tag, e.g. <img src="myfile<#IsSunUp.jpg>"> and have the files called myfile1.jpg and myfile0.jpg.

something like

Code: Select all

<img src="./myimages/sun<#issunup>.png">
you have to make an image sun0.png and sun1.png and figure out what image you want to see when there is no sun up or a complete tranperant image.

Edit I think the code Steve gave is more secure ;)

<#IsSunUp> is actually between sunrise and sunset, as you said (i.e. sun above horizon), nor dawn and dusk as I said (that's the old one, <#isdaylight>).

It's my fault for confusing things. To summarise the available tags:

<#IsSunny> The sun is actually shining (requires your station to have a solar sensor, or a Blake-Larsen sun recorder)
<#IsSunUp> The sun is above the horizon
<#isdaylight> It's between dawn and dusk (i.e. includes Civil Twilight)

Lyle, it might be time you start studying PHP and eventually convert your pages to that format ... page design can become addictive you know ... probably as stimulating as making beer in your house, well almost...

Looking at the packages available from adam.com.au I am hoping that you are only using them as an ISP and your web site is part of the personal ISP package they provide because, if not, they are VERY expensive ( http://adam.com.au/business/hosting_standard/ - $200 a year for only 25 Mb od HDD space is, well, probably a hangover from the 1990's!)

If you do want your own web site suggest you look around - I am in the process of changing my host after 5 years - although $18 AUD doesn't sound much, it is when you have no income! So - current host is $130 pa over 2 years and ups my storage from 1.5Gb and 60 Gb per month to >5Gb storage and > 100 Gb per month plus additional benefits.

If you want details PM me.

Hey,

Thanks but no thanks, yeah I'm currently using the web space provided by my isp.. Its free for me to use and every upload to it cost me nothing in data charges.. I really not that committed to paying for a web page that not many people would view.. I really only know 3 people including my self that use my page.

Thanks again :D
