Will <#isdaylight> work for you? - A flag to indicate if the location for the station is in daylight or not, based on the dawn and dusk times. Possible values are 0 or 1, where 1 notes that it is currently within the hours of daylight.

<#IsSunny> isn't any use for telling you whether the sun is up anyway; it might be overcast. <#isdaylight> is the closest, but I guess a new tag is really needed - <#IsSunUp>. In the absence of that tag, you would need to compare the current time with <#sunrise> and <#sunset>. But testing for <#CurrentSolarMax> being non-zero would actually give you a reasonable approximation. It would be zero for a few minutes after sunrise and a few minutes before sunset, though.

Ahh, so <#isdaylight> includes (civil presumably) twilight, I'd forgotten that. Of course as an astronomer I'd base it on astronomical twilight which means that it would always = 1 during mid-summer in the UK.

Yes, that's right.mcrossley wrote:Ahh, so <#isdaylight> includes (civil presumably) twilight
I'm going to release a new build soon with a few fixes, I'll add the <#IsSunUp> tag as it's very easy to do.

Re: looking for idea?
I suppose the time difference between <#isdaylight> and <#IsSunUp> could be significant for anyone living in eg. Orkney and T'North
