It's a bit strange that a manual update works but not an automatic one. The best thing to do is turn on ftp logging, and then look at (and/or upload here) the ftplog.txt.

Have you tried deselecting - Use active FTP mode
The update interval is very short dont know if this would have any effect most stations seem to update between 5 & 15 minutes
your upload directory seems a bit unusual mine for example is /public_html/weather

The ftp logging is turned on or off from the configuration menu in cumulus
as Steve said earlier cant understand how you can get the program to update on an update now but not automatically
are you updating to a web host or a local server ?

good point Neil:

i first try to workout Cumulus with my local web host:
http://ggtronic.dyndns.org/~webmeteo/index.htm
wich lead me to problem only... i'm not advanced enough
to figure wath's needed to update local HTM ?

then , i start to work with my $host$ wich went
better since the manual WEB/FTP request lead to success

now i only need to trigger the automatic FTP update :?:

i know that my fooling around may lead to this problem ?
ounce you know enough ... you can lead yourself to worst problem LOL

I've just thought of a reason why automatic updates might not be working, particularly as you have a WMR 968. Are all of your sensors working? Cumulus won't start its timers unless you have a pretty much complete working station.

Edit: I see your pressure is zero, so you have no barometer? This is one of the sensors that Cumulus checks for before it starts working fully. As the WMR 968 sensors send in data individually, it has to check that it has had a sensible set of data before it starts logging and updating the web site etc.

No, sorry.
i'b v chose the 918 instead of 928 in the station parameter , there is no
968 ? wich one i should chose ?
The help says: "For Oregon Scientific stations and similar re-badged stations (Huger, Radio Shack etc) which have a serial port connection, if your model is not listed, try WM-918 if your station has wired connections, and WMR-928 if it is wireless."

You need to look at the error - click on the error light.

Hi Steve,

Just joined in the fun. I've got a Davis VP2, correction, I've got half a Davis VP2. Long story short, I drive for 4x4 Response, a voluntary charity organisation that helps the public services in bad weather, among other things. As weather is the main driver to our services being required, we rely on heads up weather forecasting. Okay, I'm no challenge to the Met-office but I Have the interest to explore the subject and if I can help by understanding more about the weather then its got to be good. The trouble is of late we get warned of bad weather, say snow fall, we get all preped up and then..... someone claims to have seen a snow flake in Salisbury. It can be very frustrating.

The bonus came when my employer happened to have a Davis system, unused and still boxed, which it no longer required. I enquired about purchasing it, they listened to my reasons and then donated to the Charity. What a brilliant result!! At the moment I just have the console, which I bring home every evening to set up my website so I can show that this is serious. I hope to get the rest of the system by the weekend.

My plan is to run the station and use Columbus to drive my website so my colleagues can see the weather situation locally. One of the members of another team does exactly this, using Columbus and it was through the link at the bottom of his page that got me here. Its a great tool and just does exactly what it says on the tin. However,I ran into this very same problem. Manual web update works but automatic doesn't. No errors, nothing in the FTP log. Just not working. Nothing in the HELP, nothing in the FAQs, lots of head scratching, lots of diagnostics. Then tonight I find the answer here, and to be honest I was expecting this was the reason.

Would it be possible to add this situation to the FAQs, as it would save people so much time.

Many thanks,
Dave :D

I've added a FAQ.

It's "Cumulus", by the way, like the clouds

 It would help if I were accurate regarding the softwares name........ Sorry, no idea how I managed that.

Anyway, thanks for that addition of the FAQ. Hopefully stopping some one else having such a problem. :)
