Hi,
I haven't yet purchased a weather station, but I'm just working on where to place it in my suburban backyard (Brisbane, Australia).
I'm thinking of getting a Fine Offset WS1081, and I know that I need to provide additional shade for the thermo-hydro transmitter.
Would it work to place the sensor underneath a timber deck, where it receives constant shade and good airflow? Have any of you tried this?
Or it would it need to be more in the open in a Stevenson screen / radiation shield?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Darryl

If the deck were higher than 1.5m
Temp / hygro should be in open space, approx. 1.5m above grass and shielded from Sun and rain whilst still well ventilated. Easy isn't it ..........

Re: Can I place temp sensor under a timber deck?
Higher than 1.5m = check ... it'll be approx 1.8m above ground level.
Open space = kind of ... it'll be placed underneath the edge of a large deck, and about 4 metres away from a 2 storey house
Above grass = check
Shielded from sun and rain = check
I know I won't really know how it's going until I test it out, but I was wondering if anyone else had tried something similar, and whether they had been successful.

If it's shaded and has good airflow, then it sounds like an idea spot.
