Which Barometer number does Cumulus send to CWOP, etc.?

Post by rstetson »

I use a WS-1080/Fine Offset unit.

Normally, I have the unit set to read the absolute pressure, but whenever I have to reset the power to the unit, the relative pressure reading changes, and sometimes it seems to effect the output sent to CWOP, or Weather underground.

Right now the reading on CWOP is about 1.5 mb too high. Should I adjust the relative number on the console so it reports a more accurate barometer?

Thanks.

Cumulus uses relative pressure always, absolute pressure is of no use for meteorological purposes. If resetting the station causes your relative pressure setting to be lost, you will have to set it again each time for your pressure readings to have any meaning.

BTW - the station is only 11 meters above sea level, so the absolute and relative settings are very close anyway, actually within the standard deviation....

Biggest issue is the phantom spikes that the inside unit sends to the database.....

It's pretty much that way for me, I'm at 5m ASL. Does the station set the relative pressure randomly then, when it resets, rather than to the same as the absolute? That would be be much better in your case.

You can over-ride the station's relative pressure offset, see http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Cumulu ... et_console

The issue was in the WH-1080 base unit.

Weatherwise swapped it out, and it is working 100%
