Website help
Hope you can all help ?
I am trying to develop a new website for myself. I,ve got bored with my old one and gone off the colour scheme. For the new one I want it to be full screen and have the main page a data page showing all the "live" weather.
I have come across these free templates - http://www.carterlake.org/webtemplates.php and was hoping to use one of these but then display the cumulus drive info instead of the described weather display. I realise that I will have to remove most of the orginal content as its USA based warnings and degree F etc. But I like the basic layout and want something to show the current temp top right, and then incorporate either the Cumulus IndexT page or the ajax data in the middle of the screen.
I did try and simply copy the IndexT and past the code, but no data was displayed when I went "live" with it. I have a feeling I am missing a major point.
EDIT - this is what I have cobbled together so far, non of the links etc will work, just trying to get the data to work before I move onto something else

Can anyone assist ? -
thanks

Re: Website help
You've already seen and played with the beteljuice ajax version !
If you have changed all the 'ajax' variables (because they are NOT compatible with the Carter Lake / Ken True values), Then the only thing that is missing is the actual 'ajax' script call in the head section.
eg.
Naturally, as a Cumulus Template, you can pre-fill any portion or include non-ajax data by the usual <#cumulus_variable> method.

eg.
Code: Select all
<script type="text/javascript" src="betel_cumulus_ajax.js"></script>
</head>

Re: Website help
Thanks for the swift reply, hopefully you can see now where I am going with this.
cheers for now
EDIT - is the number of times you can use an element restricted ?
Q - I have used the temp at the top right, since doing that the current temp within the table has now vanished ?

Re: Website help
As stated elsewhere ...
Any 'variable' (div or span id) can only be used ONCE on any particular html page, the second will be ignored at best.
If you need a duplicate value for whatever reason, you need to duplicate the JavaScript logic and assign a new 'variable' name.
https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=3351#p3351
and the post following.
EDIT: If you look at the 'index' beteljuice page, you will see the 'top of page' temp. has a different name and is 'rounded' to an integer.

Re: Website help
A few errors:
In JavaScript you have:
You have changed the variable name to "ajaxbaro_rel_mb", OK, but the line above also needs to be changed.
But having changed the name in js,
You haven't changed it in the html !
As it's only a cosmetic change (" mb"), you would be safer keeping all the original names.
PS. You are lucky so much of it seemed to work, It has 'broke' the ajax loop, but not fatally - 'notice your time since last' doesn't reset.
In JavaScript you have:
Code: Select all
// hPa relative
barolast_rel_hPa = get_last("ajaxbaro_rel_hPa"); // for change arrow
Rset_ajax_obs("ajaxbaro_rel_mb", pressure_rel_hPa.toFixed(1), " mb");
But having changed the name in js,
Code: Select all
<td>Pressure</td>
<td>Now: <span class="ajax" id = "ajaxbaro_rel_hPa"></span>
As it's only a cosmetic change (" mb"), you would be safer keeping all the original names.

Re: Website help
Before you get too much further with your project, may I suggest having a look at the PHP version of the Carterlake templates?
There is a "World" version which has some UK based stuff like earthquake & buoy data and it's easier to configure & add new pages.
You can use the basics and then use the PHP "include" code to add the work you've already done with this one to include the Cumulus data but it already has the coding included for a lot of the other pages.
