Rain Gauge not working

Post by MickinMoulden »

Worked last night. Not working this morning. Bugger.
I have a modified FO rain gauge extended 15 meters on a 1 year old unit.
Tipped water down the gauge. Tip, tip, tip. OK.
Disconected rain gauge from extension and plugged directly to sensor. Works.
Measure volts as 2.64V. Bit low. Changed. Measures 3.28V. Good. Maybe too long for the low vaults?
Reconnected. Still don't work. Hmmm,
Checked continuity on adapter. Works.
Checked continuity on 15 lead. Pretty hard, the probes on multimeter only just touch when pushed. Broken.
Going for visual check on lead that runs within the metal frame of my cyclone proofed varandah that sits on metal poles.

A RAT has chewed through it. HOW'D HE GET UP THERE!!!

Resoldered (it's the red and green middle two for the newbies) and RE-ROUTED!

Next job, modify rain gauge more to prevent any blow out. Involves the usual plant pot, base, oversize funnel, an exact .333 calibration and making my own plastic tube to stop blowout.
