latest update

Post by gerry bruen »

Hi guys
Firstly excellent website and program for my w-8681 weather station.
Please excuse me if I missed this on the forum but after updating yesterday to latest software all previous records are ok but when using graphs or checking specific week or day no data showing.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

You probably have an error in a data file somewhere (it would normally flash the error light for this, though). If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

Hi Steve
Thanks for reply
Its probably something I have done. No error light flashing and as I said records show the data but graphs dont.
When I went to attach the culumus diags file I noticed I have 4 culumus files in my C drive is this correct ?

Kind regards Gerry

A diags file gets created every time you start Cumulus up. Just zip up the entire folder and attach it.

There's no indication of any problems in there, and it looks like you should have data as far back as at least the 7th November, so the graphs should reflect that. Can you show me an example of what the graphs look like?

Edit: Please also attach your Nov11log.txt file

Hi Steve
When I go into cumulus file in c drive open data file its only showing note for November.
I have been using this software since 14 September.
As i said only after update software cant view anything before 7 November although records are still showing hi & lows from 14 September on words.

Thanks again Gerry

This is nothing to do with the update from 1.9.1 to 1.9.2. The first diags file is from 10:38 today, and you were still running 1.9.1. It shows that you had last run Cumulus on the 7th November. You then first ran 1.9.2 at 11:22 today. So I think you did something to your installation (e.g. moved the data files) at some point before 10:38 today. There would normally be 9 diags files, but there are only 7.

So some of your data files are there, but it looks like the monthly log files were moved or deleted at some point before 10:38 this morning.

You will need to edit the 'timestamp' value today.ini to force the download of the old data. It won't get you exactly back to where you were, because at a 30-minute logging interval, your data won't be as good. But if you have lost your monthly log files I can't think of a better solution. If you were taking a backup, though, then surely you have those files somewhere?

Steve
I have been keeping all data form Dec 08 could you look at this file let me know what you think.
What i had been doing was importing data as a text document from the easy weather software then pasting to xl sheet.
See attached
If i could convert this data back so your cumulus could show me it as past of its history that would just be great.
Many many thanks Gerry

Steve
Managed to retrieve this from easy weather software.
This is exactly the day I started using the culumus software.
But as I said if there was a way I could retrieve all data back to Dec 2008 using current software that would be excellent.

The formats of the monthly log files are in the help and the wiki. If you can convert your data into that format, then Cumulus can generate all its other files from those.
