Hi All,

I have just purchased a WH-3080 and although all sensors are working fine the wireless receiver keeps loosing contact with the wireless transmitter.

It may run for three or four hours and then lose contact. I have checked the batteries in the transmitter, solar panel, output connections and everything appears OK.

I have moved the receiver directly under the transmitter and there is about 15 feet separation through an iron roof and it still drops out after a period of time.

Two questions.......is this normal and any ideas guys?

As an aside, I have a 1080 and it has been working great in a salt air environment for about two years.

Try replacing the batteries in the transmitter with new standard alkalines and see if the problem continues.
I've never heard of an "iron roof", but suspect it might be a problem. However if you have a 1080 working through it all right, then the 3080 should too.

I will try a new set of batteries tomorrow. Iron = metal = tin roof. The 1080 is at my home and I'm setting the up the 3080 in my aircraft hangar - (Different Locations)

Hi Daryl,

With a 3080 I got a "lost contact" with the receiver about 15 feet below the transmitter even without an "iron roof" (which is liable to severly reduce the signal). Maybe the transmitter and/or reciever antennae have a very low radiation pattern in the vertical direction. In my experience (with one sample of each), subjectively the 3080 is much more prone to lost contacts than my 1081.

I can only suggest that you try a few different physical orientations/locations. Personally, purely for testing, I use NiMH batteries because their 1.2 volts per cell is comparable to regular Alkaline batteries near the end of life (and when the FO low TX battery icon is activated). Of course the 3080 is supposed to keep the batteries charged from the solar panel, but mine has reported a low battery within 3 months of installation (an issue still to be resolved).
