v1.9.2 (build 1019) Update Failed

Hello all..

Trying to update to ver 1.9.2 (build 1019) on Windows XP. I can download the update, but when I try to execute it, it gives me the error message "An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeletFile Failed; code 5 Access denied"

Any idea of what's wrong?

Thanks..

Jim

That's the error message that Windows gives when it can't replace a file because it's in use (e.g. Cumulus was running). Make sure Cumulus isn't running and nothing else is accessing any of its files - restart Windows if necessary.

Thanks. Steve. That fixed that part of it. Now, when I open Cumulus, I get the white box that says it's Downloading Data, but that's where it stops. No data is downloading. I have let it set and run for several minutes, but it never downloads. I have checked the USB connections and it shows that a device is detected, and have rebooted a couple of times, but nothing changes..The date and time on the screen is correct. Any suggestions?

You seem to have some sort of USB problem, or a problem with the station itself:

Any suggestions on where to start looking? Like I said, I have unplugged the USB cable and plugged it back in several times. Each time it says that a USB device is attached. :x

I'm not really an expert in these things, so hopefully someone else will have some suggestions, but you could try a different USB port and/or a different cable.

OK..Thanks for your help. I have tried other ports, but haven't tried the cable yet. I really doubt that is the problem though since it says there is a USB device attached when I plug it in. I'll just have to play around with it for a while. Suggestions from others would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible you have a power management problem.

There is setting on the USB properties page for all USB devices (Control Panel, System, Device Manager, right click on each USB device including hubs and select Properties) in the Power Management tab (it might not be present on USB devices that don't support it so ignore these) that "allows the computer to turn off this device to save power". If it is ticked, untick it and click on OK and it will stop the Power Management functions closing the USB port down.

Check all the properties of all the USB devices under Universal Serial Bus controllers as you will be surprised what devices have the facility to do this!!

Your problem appears to have started at about 1pm yesterday, if that's any help:

10/31/2011 12:55:07.906 : Lost sensor contact!!!
10/31/2011 13:00:00.344 : *** Data input appears to have stopped

That was the last time Cumulus was able to get a response from the station, it's been unable to read any data from it since then.

You can try easyweather to see if it 'communicates' with the station

OK..I was looking at the data file. I found this txt.doc for Nov11log. The last entry was at 01/11/11,06:50. Does that mean anything?

If I should uninstall and reinstall Cumulus, is the data file all I have to save and recopy so I don't loose the history?

If I install Easyweather, will there be any conflicts with Cumulus? Or do I have to uninstall Cumulus?

Thanks for the suggestion.
