Rain reset

Post by 383gki »

High Steve, I know that the issue of resetting the rain gauge has been discussed before but I have spent ages trying to get it to reset to 0 unsuccessfully. The WS1081 weather station has been zeroed successfully on all registers so it doesnt appear to be coming from there and I have tried all the various data files but it just keeps coming back! Can you help or is just delete all the data files and start again? I am about to reposition the instrument cluster again and the rain will show more rain we havent had!! Cheers Tim. (P.S. I edited the data files without Cumulus running.)

The rain counter is in the rain gauge, not the console. But if you want to set today's rain to zero, instructions are in the FAQ (it's a simple edit to today.ini) or easier still, version 1.9.2 has a facility to set today's total to any value you want.

and unplug the rain gauge from the transmitter before you move it, then it will not register false rain in the first place.

I decided to clean my Davis rain gauge yesterday and to avoid erroneous rain readings I placed the console in setup mode by pressing Done and the down arrow. The display went blank so all appeared well.

After cleaning the unit I held down the Done button for a couple of seconds and the display reactivated but rain of 0.12" was recorded. I'm still mystified as to why this happened. I was able to clear the value on the console and eventually cleared the values in Cumulus but the rainrate and amount still showed on the graph pages and they are still visible as I write this.

How do you clear the graph of these erroneous readings?
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I had corrected the Current Rainfall Rate and Total Rainfall today so far but had missed Total Rainfall Counter. That's now sorted, thanks Steve. :)
Cheers,
