Startup problems

Just got my Vantage Vue up and running with no problems. I then downloaded Cumulus (v 1.9.2 build 1018 on Windows 7). I cannot seem to connect to my weather station console from my pc using Cumulus.
I am using the serial connection version connected to com1.
I didn't have any serial ports on my pc so I have installed a 2-port RS-232 serial adapter. Both ports show up in Device Manager (com1 and com2). Device Manager General Tab says the device is working properly. Device Manager Resource Tab says there are no conflicting devices. Port Settings tab shows 19200, 8, 1, none, and no flow control. So it appears that my newly installed serial card is configured and functioning.
I configured Cumulus to Station Type = Vantage Pro2/Vue, Settings = Com Port 1, VP type = Serial.
When I finish the configuration I get "Error -32701 while trying to initialize the station. Please check your connections and settings."
Am I missing something in configuration?
I have not yet installed or tried WeatherLink.

It looks like you have the correct settings if your station really is on COM1. The error message means that the Davis DLL can't communicate with the station. Probably the best course of action is to install Weatherlink (you'll need it anyway if you want to change the station's logger interval) and get it to auto-detect the station, to confirm the com port and make sure it's all working OK.

I loaded WeatherLink and did the Auto Detect. It checked Com1 through Com18 and couldn't find it.
So I guess that would mean either my serial card is bad, or the cabling to the datalogger has a problem, or the datalogger itself?

Update: I just talked with Davis support and they are sending out a new serial data loggger. I had tried to verify that the data logger serial baud rate was set at 19.2k (I hadn't checked before because 19.2 is supposed to be factory default). Well, I couldn't access the serial baud rate setting in Setup. That is when I called Davis. They said if I can't see the baud rate setting in Setup then the console is not recognizing the data logger. So they are sending a new one.

Hmm... yes, tricky. I guess one approach would be to try a different serial device, if you have one, to test the card.

Received a new data logger today and can now talk to the pc.

Thanks for the help.
