NOAA DAILY MEAN TEMP

Post by iceberg »

Hello steve....

I wonder what sum is used to calculate the daily mean temp.
example: ..... max 10.2....min 6.4.....mean (8.3).......10.2 + 6.4 = 16.6 divide by 2 = (8.3) MEAN TEMP is this the way i assume its calculated.

In my noaa monthly report the sums dont add up for the daily mean temp.

Thanks...

It's calculated from 1-minute samples, which generally gives a 'better' figure than simply the average of the min and max.
