Spikes!

HI Folks
Been away from the forum for a while - my W8681 has recently started producing silly 'spike' readings -
temperature / rainfall (over 350 inches one day!) - and suchlike.

Did I see mention somewhere that the latest version of Cumulus has a 'numpty-filter' to kill off these silly readings ?

I'm currently running v1.8.9 (930)...

I'm not terribly bothered about the historical data I've recorded (as it's full of daft spikes) - so what's the process to make a clean install of Cumulus that will hopefully kill off these silly spikes from the 8681 ?

Thanks
Adrian

Yes, 1.9.1 (and hence 1.9.2) have 'spike removal' settings. If you're getting them frequently, though, I think I'd be inclined to investigate that - new batteries, perhaps? I am about to make 1.9.2 the 'release' version (possibly even later today) so I suggest you go for that one.

If you want to start again with new data, uninstall Cumulus, then delete the folder where it was installed (uninstalling doesn't delete data). Then install the new version.

Edit: actually, you might want to keep your cumulus.ini file if it has lots of settings...

HI Steve
Thanks for the fast reply!
I'll change the batteries (once it stops raining!) - and will follow your procedure to set up the new version

Does the 'anti-spike' feature need to be user-configured ?
Thanks
Adrian

Yes, the default settings are such that it has no effect; you need to invent some suitable values. 1.9.2 tries to ignore large increases in rain total without any configuration, but there are settings for rate.
