Surprisingly so. Faster loading than most local (to me) sites.
Must be a decent host with good peering back to here.

I agree. The website just SNAPS. Amazingly fast. Probably the fastest forum I've ever used to be honest.

I'm looking at about 70ms response times and 15 hops to the server too...

It's just relatively cheap shared hosting, about $120/yr. Quite a few people used to say the forum was slow, and then we were moved to different servers and things do seem to have got much faster. It's probably the SQL server that makes the difference as far as the forum is concerned.
