Pulling Logger Data after Hard Drive Crash

Post by hazyarc »

Hi all,

I have a Vantage Vue along with the USB Datalink Logger. My hard drive crashed on Saturday and I've replaced it today and have everything back up and running. Unfortunately, I do not have any backups of my log files (luckily, I just started broadcasting this month). I noticed that Cumulus pulls data from the logger from the last time that Cumulus was shut down. My problem is the fact that on my new hard drive, Cumulus is a new install, thus it doesn't know to pull the logger data. Is there a way I can override this limitation and force cumulus to pull data from the logger since Saturday? Thanks!

You can try editing the 'timestamp' in today.ini, but you may have some tidying up to do. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#I.E2.8 ... er_station

This worked beautifully, thank you for the information. I was actually able to enter September 3rd (the day I connected my weather station) in the timestamp field and was able to recover all of my data that I lost! I had no idea the logger retained information for that long, but I'm pleased it did!

Now, next up on the agenda...start backups of my Cumulus log files!

It holds 2560 entries, so the actual period covers depends on the (station) logger interval; e.g. at 10-minute intervals it's about 17 days.
