Acurite will be coming out, in the next week or two, with its new 01050c station, which includes an Integrated Sensor package, which has tested very well, and a new web bridge. This system will be priced in the $150-200 range making it quite affordable for novice users, and even this advanced user is planning on purchasing one of these new units. Is there any plan to support these units, which I think will become quite popular with hobbyists.
Regards,
Chris Collins

I have no plans to support any more weather stations. Manufacturers rarely make their protocols available so it requires someone to reverse engineer it, and it's very hard to get the full protocol that way. Then, even assuming someone does manage to work out enough of the protocol, it's very rare to find a station that works correctly 100% of the time, particularly at the cheaper end of the market; they inevitably have their little 'idiosyncrasies'. So I have to start doing work arounds, and this is very frustrating.

Steve, have you ever considering opening up Cumulus by providing an API interface for stations. That way you could offload protocol handling to other developers who provide a DLL for Cumulus. Of course that requires some thought to go into the definition of the API standard

Nope thinking about it further, the work required at your end would probably still be substantial unless the dll's were super reliable and intelligent.

There is a kind of basic API already - the easyweather.dat file interface, which I enhanced slightly to make it more usable. It's not an ideal solution, but a few people have used it.

Steve,
What about adding standardized protocols such as NMEA or SDI-12 ? These are well know and documented.
Also, exist a lot of sensors and/or transmitters that use one or all of these protocols, By example (
