Cumulus Support

I have noticed that Cumulus seems to 'burned' an image of itself on my screen! Even with Cumulus shut down, you can see a faint outline of the program on the screen along with random blocks of numbers like something out of the Matrix!

Also, Cumulus shut down, when I go to play a game, for example, random blocks of numbers, lines etc appear and ruin the picture.

What could be causing this? Is this a display adapter issue or what? Its very strange and Ive not come across this before

What kind of monitor do you have?
Older CRT monitors were renowned for the "Burn In" problem.
It also happens on earlier LCD monitors.
Only way to correct I think is to have a white picture, i.e all white as a screen saver picture and this will help to wash out the burn in.
Only other choice is to replace the screen

It does seem like it might be 'burn in', but the 'random blocks of numbers' makes it sound more like a display adapter/driver problem. You usually have to have the same thing on screen for a very long time for burn in to occur. If you reboot and don't run Cumulus is the image still there?

Yes I've tried that, makes no difference, also I've ensured that I've updated to the latest drivers for my display adapter (NVidia GeForce 7300 LE).

I have to have Cumulus running all the time as it uploads to my website. It is a fairly old monitor though...

You've tried what - rebooting and not running Cumulus, and the image is still there? That must be screen burn-in, then.

Do you not minimise it when you're not looking at it, or have a 'blank screen' screen saver that cuts in after a few minutes of inactivity? Modern monitors don't really need it, but it does save power.

Fairly certain now its a display adapter problem. I've had a look at the nVidia forum and it seems this is a common enough problem. I now have several possible things to try so hopefully get this sorted. Could be something as simple as a slight tweak to the acceleration settings or taking the card out and giving a damned good clean! Thanks anyway

I don't understand how it can be a display adapter problem if the image is there after powering up your PC before you even run Cumulus? Where on earth is it getting the image from?

It would make much more sense for it to be a display adapter problem, rather than burn-in, apart from the above.
