I haven't done anything with my own web sites for many years and want to know what people are using these days? I use to use Frontpage in XP.

Depends on your level of expetise. If all you need is an HTML editor then Notepad++ is a good free one but I use NoteTab Pro (http://www.notetab.com) which has built in editors for HTML, PHP and many other languages. It is also availble free with NoteTab Lite. For CSS style sheets I use a very good program called TopStyle (http://www.topstyle4.com/).

If you need one that does all the work for you and all you do is enter text then there are many availble including the latest FrontPage.

Personally I prefer to handcraft my code but that requires knowledge of HTLML etc., that programs like FrontPage help you with.

Hi Duke.

I use HTMLToolkit, a freebie from http://www.htmlkit.com/

Heres my site .. http://www.philcdav.webspace.virginmedi ... ather.html

I find it covers my needs but a CSS editor would be handy.

Use Free Site Templates for ideas whu.

Good luck

Thanks guys,

Well the latest version of Frontpage is way too expensive and I like the look of NVU - very simple, but there is not a 64 version.

I've decided to give Coffee Cup HTML editor a go. Any comments good or bad are appreciated.

Why would the lack of an x64 version put you off? It is an editor not a multi gigabyte database service :?

How about this: http://bluegriffon.org/

It's the 'replacement' for Nvu, which is longer being developed.

It states on the NVU web page it is not compatible with 64 bit. All my machines are 64 bit.

Thanks Steve. down loading now and I'll have a play tomorrow, thanks.

Well while I do like the look of Blue Griffon it's relatively new with a lack of manual and not much about it on the net. I would say it's not too good for the inexperienced. So I ended up purchasing the Frontpage replacement - Expression web 4. While it may be a bit pricey it's straight forward to use, good manual when you need it and online video tutorials. Also a comprehensive active forum with fast replies.
