Current Conditions

Hi,

I currently use a Fine Offset 1080 and just about to upgrade my weather stats from a Davis Vantage Vue but my question is more website related.

Is there a way that the Cumulus 'Current Conditions' field or text file can be updated automatically by a file/php/auto process etc - eg take current conditions for my location from a website such as weather underground or another source and update the current conditions text file so cumulus and eventually my twitter updates can show current conditions. This is a pretty useful feature of cumulus but i cant update the box or file so many times per day.

From the help file...
If a file called 'currentconditions.txt' exists in the same directory as the Cumulus executable, the contents of this file will be used for the web tag instead. The file will be deleted if the text in the current conditions box is modified.

Hi thanks.

My question is can i obtain current conditions data automatically from a website like weatherunderground and use a third party software/website/programme to update the current conditions file so it auto shows on my website.

thanks

I haven't heard of anything, but a fairly simple script could be knocked up to do that, and scheduled through Cumulus, Toolbox, or the Windows scheduler. Maybe someone else has a little utility that will do the trick?

You could pull the info from your local airport's METAR data. GetWX script is here: http://woody.cowpi.com/phpscripts/
I use it to display visibility and cloud data on my site.
I hope this helps
