WH-3081 Mods

Post by springschuh »

Hi All :) Have just did some playing around with my WH3081.I wanted the vane and anemometer up at 7m and the other sensors(rain, UV/temp /solar rad ) down at 1m which meant a longer cable! :/
So I decided to make a good job of it and added in another RJ-45 connector into the anemometer housing so as to make it easy to change over cabling lengths. Easy job if a little finicky for soldering. Plugged it all together and up the pole it went, and.......Bugger! no wind speed! Hmm down and redid the solder joints, checked the plugs were connecting.. still no wind! then I twigged with a closer look at the connections, I used a standard RJ-45 extension cable which has 4 wires (black, red, yellow, green) the same colors as the fine offset use......except for a minor detail, the WH-3081 has reversed the order of 2 wires!!!! green is yellow and yellow is green!!!Put together by a colour blind techhttps://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/posting.php?mode=post&f=16# methinks :)So after swapping them over its all fine(HeHeHe) again!
So a trick to keep an eye open for if any1 is extending cables .https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/posting.php?mode=post&f=16#
