wind direction outage

Hello, my weather station which I set up just before Christmas 2010 seems to be going on the blink. The wind direction display is blank and no data is feeding through to the data logger - it is locked on 209.1 degrees. I have disconnected and reconnected the sockets and the sender unit seems to be transmitting OK - in any case I have been led to believe the batteries last well over a year.

As well as the wind direction facility being lost I also had an outage of all data between 1640 on August 9 and 0630 on August 10. On this occasion the rainfall data reset to zero on the log on its own. I also now have two sets of August data in the August log - one set of figures from 1st to 7th and another set of figures from 1st to 14th (today).

Does the unit need a complete reboot?

I don't think a reboot is going to fix it, it sounds to me more like a hardware problem.

Regarding the duplicate entries in the data logs, if you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I may be able to see what caused that, if the diags files go back far enough.

I had exactly the same problem about 3 weeks ago; I was convinced there was a problem with the connection to the wind sensors as the rain sensor was working fine.
I climbed on to my chimney!! and evicted a nest of flees from the RJ11 socket and cleaned the terminals, checked all the other connections but it still didn't work, I then put a new set of batteries into the sender unit and that seemed fix it.
A day or so later the whole lot stopped transmitting to the console, I checked the batteries I had just put in the voltage was over 1.5V I then replaced the batteries with some Energizer ultimate lithium’s and its been fine ever since, fingers crossed. Now whether it was a battery issue or a dodgy joint in the sender unit, only time will tell.
I have never had more than about 7 months out of a set of batteries so at 12 months they could be ready for replacing.

I tried a new set of batteries last night - and think I have wiped the data as a result - in spite of the unit instructions saying that the data remains intact in the logger when you change batteries. It would appear that the rain gauge is no longer sending either. This product is less than 12 months old and is still under guarantee - perhaps it is best that I just cut my losses now and ask Clas Ohlson (the supplier) to replace / repair this?
