Hi Steve any way add Cumulus auto load with startup?

Post by robertmc8 »

That way it can reboot with start up after windows updated is installed? So I don't have click to load up after computer reboots?
My weather station Zephyr Instruments PWS-1000TD By the way I don't think the weather bug upload not working :) my station not showing up on there site. Any chance add more Calibration stuff like night and day? So temps can be more offset? By way I donated 6 bucks to you with my dads paypall account since I don't have one :). http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstat ... =KOHWESTO3

Seems to work for everyone else. Have you entered your details correctly? If you turn on the debug log, the debug.log file may show an error coming back from WB.

Ya I think I fill out the info right right but I don't think it works with my weather station. The publisher show it station data is off on it. No way turn it on from weather bug to make it show up on weatherbug site. From Weston area. There is no error so far. Can you pleased add day and nite time setting off from the sun temps :) that be very used full.

I just put Cumulus and Yawcam in the start up folder. Works fine. I even put my No-Ip program in there so I run my website off my own computer.

One thing though: Programs in the startup folder start automatically ony after logging in. So you need (to be there) to log in, or disable the account / password login.

It's my own computer, I don't need to log in. So, for me, it works fine. I can go on holiday (and have...yee haa), and know that my site will be up all the time.
But you are correct, I now remember that I took out the kids accounts so it didn't go to the log in screen. Kids are only 5 and (nearly!) 3. They can play with the DS, so they don't accidently edit any opened Cumulus pages! Ouch.

You have to have a user logged in anyway for Cumulus to run.

Here's what I did to have my home PC log on automatically. If you are comfortable editing your registry settings then please proceed.

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. In Windows Vista/7, simply type regedit in Start Search and hit Enter.

2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

3. Double-click the DefaultUserName entry, type the user name to log on with, and then click OK.
If DefaultUserName registry value name is not found, create a new String Value (REG_SZ) with value name as DefaultUserName.

4. Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type the password for the user account under the value data box, and then click OK.
If there is no DefaultPassword value, create a new String Value (REG_SZ) with DefaultPassword as the value name.
Note that if no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows automatically changes the value of the AutoAdminLogon registry key from 1 (true) to 0 (false) to turn off the AutoAdminLogon feature.

5. In Windows Vista/7, DefaultDomainName has to be specified as well, else Windows will prompt for invalid user name with the user name displayed as .\username. To do so, double click on DefaultDomainName, and specify the domain name of the user account. If it’s local user, specify local host name.
If the DefaultDomainName does not exist, create a new String Value (REG_SZ) registry key with value name as DefaultDomainName.

6. Double-click the AutoAdminLogon entry, type 1 in the Value Data box, and then click OK.
If there is no AutoAdminLogon entry, create a new String Value (REG_SZ) with AutoAdminLogon as the value name.

7. If it exists, delete the AutoLogonCount key.

8. Quit Registry Editor.

9. Click Start, click Restart, and then click OK.

I think a few people would find that a bit scary. Is there a benefit from doing it via the registry rather than the simpler way via the user accounts control panel applet?

Whoa! You're very tricky there, but I just used the Accounts control panel. Muuuuuch easier. However, I'm using Windows XP and not 7. Maybe that's the difference?

The control panel method for Windows 7 is almost exactly the same as with XP. Very easy.
