How does one get Cumulus uploaded to a web site? I have read and reread the info given in the help section but, I am still at a total loss about where the directories are to go etc and so forth also where to get a free web site if needed to host the "virtual weather station".. I have my own website with Mr Site but I cann't see anyway of uploading to that.
Anyone willing to help an newbie please??
John

Re: Uploading Cumulus to a web site??
You need hosting which allows uploads by ftp, rather than a 'website builder' like Mr Site. There's a list of hosting providers in the wiki; currently only one 'free' provider is listed: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Webspace. Note that free hosting is usually very restrictive on what sort of things you can host beyond basic HTML, but this is sufficient for the 'default' Cumulus web site.
Every provider sets up their web space differently, so it's impossible to advise you on exactly where you need to create the folders for Cumulus until you have actually got some hosting.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I'm about to purchase web space from either HostPapa or 123-reg.com and just wanted to check if 1gb web space is ok (I'm sure it is) and do I opt for Linux or Windows server?

It mattereth not, unless you get interested in website addons, then all you need it PHP. Fortunately, PHP runs in both Windows and linux. But my feel for web addons suggests linux might have a slightly easier time with installation/configuration.

I don't know/understand the difference but for my initial setup it was recommended by several people to use the Linux option and it has been working without fail.
