WH1081 base unit

Does anyone know if the base unit that plugs into the pc via a USB
cable, can be powered just by the USB cable? or does it require batteries
to be installed to keep it powered.

I was going to just take the batteries out of mine, but didnt want to
have to reset its settings if it only gets power from the batteries.

So thought I would just ask here and see if anyone knows.

The USB powers the station. You can possible hear a relay click as you plug the USB in. Change batteries with the USB plugged in is what I do with no problems. Batteries are needed to power the station if, for some reason, the USB is off.
