Applied the changes and the software worked fine at first, but then reverted to old behavior. Now the error light blinks red. Won't populate the rainfall category at all. Wonder if the software that came with the unit is a factor.

If you click on the error light it will tell you what the error is. And if you zip up the diags folder I'll have a look. But I can't say I'm surprised that it's not working properly, the memory contents looked very odd. A complete reset of the station (remove all power for a while) might fix it.

I've been using Cumulus for a month. Today, I started to get hung up on "Downloading Data". I've uninstalled/reinstalled, etc.
Attached is the latest ini file. Can you please help me?

You have some sort of USB problem, the station keeps being disconnected and reconnected, and Cumulus can't read any data from it. Make sure the cable is connected properly, or try another cable and/or USB port.

Thank you. I ended up uninstalling the USB driver for every device set up by my laptop. I then reconnected the weather station and it reinstalled the USB driver. It works now. Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I've got a similar problem to those posted in this thread, after a few days the weather station logging stops. Restarting or Rebooting don't help, it seems that the only way to get things working is unplugging the weather station and then plugging it back in.
I noticed in one of your replies you asked if the station is powered via the USB, mine is and it's also on a powered hub. I guess the easy way to check if this is what's causing the issue is to power externally and plug direct to the pc. There are a couple of reasons why I'd rather not do that so wondered if you could confirm that eaither of these things could be causing the problem?
I've downloaded the latest beta and put the .ini line in to no effect.

Thanks

I suspect that the hub may well be involved in your case, yes. I think someone else had a problem with their station recently when connected via a hub, and connecting it directly made the problem go away. I do have my Fine Offset station connected via a hub, but I only use it for testing and never have Cumulus running with it for very long at any time.

Thanks Steve.

I'll try the direct connect method first. It's via a hub as I also have a webcam & home energy monitor via usb , but only 2 usb ports.
No problems with powering the weather station via usb so far as you know?

I don't think so; you don't really have any choice as it automatically switches to USB power anyway when you plug it in. It's probably a good idea to have batteries in it as backup, though.

WS-2080 Ambient Weather Station will stop downloading data after a couple of days. I returned the first station thinking it was the hardware, and the second one does the same thing. The console continues to display proper readings. Removing a battery and restarting Cumulus will cause it to work again for a couple of days, but eventually it quits downloading data. I tried adding a line to ini file suggested elsewhere ( EWdisablecheckinit=1), but that didn't help. PC is a Windows 7, SP1 32bit. I'm using release v1.9.2 build 1029. diags zip file attached. Appreciate any help.

Looks like a problem with the station. It stopped sending data just before 1600 on the 4th Feb:

2/4/2012 15:54:00.194 : *** Data input appears to have stopped

You had previously been getting a lot of 'lost sensor contact' reported - for several hours at a time.

When you restarted Cumulus, the first 8 bytes of the station's memory had been corrupted (presumably a symptom of the problem that caused it to stop sending data):

2/5/2012 09:04:45.695 : Request EW data block, addr = 000000
2/5/2012 09:04:45.715 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 01 09 7F 00 2B 00 49 50 04

2/5/2012 09:04:45.745 : EWUSB: Bad startup block 0, discarding. Byte 0 = 09 Byte 1 = 7F

It looks like you then reset the station, as its memory then contained sensible values:

2/5/2012 09:06:44.070 : Request EW data block, addr = 000000
2/5/2012 09:06:44.090 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 01 55 AA 80 10 20 E6 40 04

2/5/2012 09:06:44.110 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 04 85 7F 00 01 00 00 00 01

... and so on. It's not clear whether the 'lost sensor contact' problem is related to the problem of the station stopping sending data.
