Hi everybody,

I'm a little confused about having so many Temperatures in newest builds.

Can someone could explain wich rules used in those temps.
- Temperature
- Wind Chill (just under 0c ???)
- Heat index not the same as Humidex ???
- and the apparent temp!

Thanks,
JacquesD

Hi Steve,

I'm trying to have just 2 temp, the regulat <#temp> and one other when weather change the "real" temp.
Presently, I use <#temp> and I have to swap <#humidex> and <#wchill> depends on the "mercury".

Today is real hot and I'm having many diffrent "temps"
I was thinking that <#apptemp> was a temp who swap on diffrent measure, like I do on hand.... but it's a complete diffrent measure?

Finally, wiki refer to Heat Index to explain Humidex, but their readins are so diffrent!

#temp = '32,3';
#apptemp = '35,2';
#heatindex = '35,4';
#humidex = '40,7';
#wchill = '32,3';

Thanks,
Jacques

Yes, the 'apparent temperature' is intended to combine the effects of the wind and humidity, so has one value for 'colder' and 'warmer'. But it's an Australian invention. Humidex is simply the Canadian equivalent of Heat Index.

Hi,

Then the Canadian mesures Humidex is the one for my sites, but I've check on webtag list and did'nt find any "historical" data about Humidex. I saw on the list historical for #apptemp and #heatindex, as that :
<#heatindex>
<#heatindexH>
<#heatindexTH>
<#heatindexYH>

but nothing about humidex (except #humidex webtag itself)

Do I need to buy my first eyeglass? (Could be... near 50!) :shock:

Thanks,
Jacques

Cumulus does very little with Humidex at the moment. There's an enhancement request to do more, which I will get around to eventually.

In terms of walk outside and see what it feels like, to me, the Apparent Temperature seems more accurate more of the time as compared to heat Index.

Jacques, if you want to display only two temperature values on your page, I would suggest the standard '<#temp>' and either the '<#wchill>' for the winter or the '<#apptemp>' for the summer.

Oh, by the way, it is illegal in Canada to use 'mercury' in thermometers ... or for talking/writing about temperature... :mrgreen:

I'm allways swapping between summer/winter webtag, but to be really serious about weather in Autumn/Spring.. I hace to swap 3 times a day.

I'm about to convert my site to PHP/Js/MySql and thinking to what I will plan to do with all those tenperatures... With Steve's answer in account, I'll swap, with some trickies,,, as kPa!

Oh! In Quebec we will talk a lot about weather during these days... around 40c humidex :!:

Have a good day,
Jacques
