Hi Steve,

Is there something wrong here?
I don’t see the date 10-7-2011 in the dayfile.

Code: Select all

10-7-2011 20:52:23 : Error in dayfile.txt at line 17: '00:04' is not a valid floating point value
Edit:

If I take a look at the diags file it’s a wrong entry for some reason.

That's the timestamp of the message in the diags file.
10-7-2011 20:52:23 : Error in dayfile.txt at line 17: '00:04' is not a valid floating point value
It's telling you that the error is at line 17 (it's on line 18 as well). It's the duplicate sunshine hours bug.

Please see the ‘edit’ in my first post.
It is a known bug?

The text you've highlighted in red is just the timestamp of the error message in the diags file.

The issue in dayfile.txt that the error message is telling you about is a known bug, yes. See the message I posted on 3rd July in the 1.9.2 beta announcement thread, and this thread: https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5434

Yes I’ve seen that later.
But if I have to remove something from the dayfile can you show me what I have to remove?
I don’t know myself...

Does my post on the thread I linked to not help? I highlighted the problem in red. The sunshine hours value (which will be zero for you) has been logged twice; remove the duplicate. The format of the entry is in the help file.

Here are your two affected lines, with the sunshine hours highlighted in red:

02-07-11;39,6;248;17:29;10,1;04:44;18,2;18:39;1016,0;19:44;1022,0;00:04;0,0;00:04;0,0;14,4;49,7;23,0;18:49;43;18:44;94;05:14;0,00;0,0;0,0;18,2;18:39;15,1;12:49;8,7;05:44;0,0;00:04;9,4;05:44;11,4;08:36;5,0;20:14
03-07-11;32,4;270;14:49;12,9;02:54;16,2;15:29;1014,0;04:59;1019,0;21:58;0,0;00:04;0,0;14,5;253,6;19,1;13:54;64;00:04;74;23:34;0,00;0,0;0,0;16,2;15:29;14,9;18:49;9,3;07:09;0,0;00:04;11,8;03:39;10,0;18:04;7,2;03:39

You need to edit those two lines to remove the duplicates, so you end up with:

02-07-11;39,6;248;17:29;10,1;04:44;18,2;18:39;1016,0;19:44;1022,0;00:04;0,0;00:04;0,0;14,4;49,7;23,0;18:49;43;18:44;94;05:14;0,00;0,0;18,2;18:39;15,1;12:49;8,7;05:44;0,0;00:04;9,4;05:44;11,4;08:36;5,0;20:14
03-07-11;32,4;270;14:49;12,9;02:54;16,2;15:29;1014,0;04:59;1019,0;21:58;0,0;00:04;0,0;14,5;253,6;19,1;13:54;64;00:04;74;23:34;0,00;0,0;16,2;15:29;14,9;18:49;9,3;07:09;0,0;00:04;11,8;03:39;10,0;18:04;7,2;03:39

For you it is probably simple, but I did not grow up with computers, only a radio… :)
And I don’t want to mess up things.

You're not the only one who has trouble when it comes to editing these logs with 100's of numbers in and trying to work out which is which, but as Steve has done for you and also did for me show's exactly what needs to be done with an example which always helps.

It’s indeed the safest way to do things, if you don’t know how. :)

The toolbox is good for editing the log files and making them understandable. For this particular problem, though, I think it would only be able to display the file for you, as the edit requires the removal of a duplicate field, and I don't think it can do that - which is understandable as it's a very unusual situation.

I'm adding a dayfile.txt creator/updater/corrector/editor to Cumulus. I'm not sure at the moment whether that will be able to do this sort of edit.

It would at least be helpful. :)
