Could someone help me with accentuation problem ?
On my system it works replacing by html equivalents on the strings.ini

é replace with é

à replace with à

ç replace with ç

and so on...

That will work, though the accented characters 'should' work with the file formats I have used.

One thing I come across quite a lot, is that when people reformat the supplied page they declare it as XHTML 1.0 (this case) or HTML 4.01 Transitional etc. THIS IS WRONG, the page needs to be declared as HTML5 as it uses HTML5 elements and formats, so the declaration tag needs to be <!DOCTYPE html> as per the sample page.

I've just noticed something after taking a look at other people steel gauge setups.
The rain total dial on my page doesn't show any digits at all unless rain has been recorded.
Does anyone else see this problem?

Hint, does it work with my supplied template? If so then what have you missed from the template on your version? (hidden span)

haha - apologies!

When you showed me the fix the other day, i edited the one on my server and not the gauges-ssT.htm in the Cumulus folder by mistake.

Regards.

Edit: If i physically click the link in my nav bar, then the digits show up in the rain total dial. If i refresh the page by clicking 'reload' or Ctrl + F5, the rain total dial is empty again, and the rain rate dial takes around 5 or 6 seconds to show any digits at all. :?: (chromium browser)
Something else i've just noticed, this time on Firefox, the rain total dial has a completely different font to the rest of the page.

Its all down to the digital font, unlike the other fonts which are resident on your computer the digital font is downloaded with the page. As only the gauges use the font, the download isn't initiated until the gauge wants to use the font. When the gauges are first rendered the font hasn't been downloaded so the digits are missing, when the gauge is updated later the digits are drawn. BUT, I put a change a long time ago in the gauge library that if the value has not changed don't redraw the gauge. So if you had some rainfall, the gauge would initially be draw at zero but with a blank display, the font downloads, then the gauge is redrawn with a non-zero value - no problem.

The purpose of the hidden span is to force the font to be downloaded before the scripts, so it is already there for the first rendering.

Forgive, if this has been asked before, but searching returns a lot of results.

I have pretty much set up my gauges page with the ss gauges except for being unable to get it to update. All I seem to get copies of the original files with the following extensions:

gauges-ssT.htmtmp
realtimegaugesT.txttmp

the files are updating at the correct intervals, but because they are making copies and not overwriting the time is the same and therefore appears to offline.

Any ideas?

I thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Hi All, my very first post here.
I have to say I love the work Mark and others have done on these gauges.
They looks sensational!
I have been converted to Cumulus simply because of these.

Mark, I hope this is the right place for this! I have discovered a problem when using Mozilla FF.
the gauges stop loading when it tries to display the UV one.
The error is ...

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "An invalid or illegal string was specified" code: "12" nsresult: "0x8053000c (NS_ERROR_DOM_SYNTAX_ERR)" location: "http://xxxxxxxxxxx/weatherlive/ssgauges ... ies.min.js Line: 7"] (xxxxxxx is because the site is still under development)

I have just tried updating to 1.4.3 and no change.
If I turn the UV gauge off in the js then all is ok.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

OK, the last of these rapid serial updates for a while. Version 1.4.4 posted.

Two main changes in this version:
  • I have removed the 'font' folder, it is no longer needed as I have embedded the LCD font in the CSS file. One less file to download which will speed things up a smidgen.
  • I have updated the SteelSeries library, the font positioning (especially the LCD font) was not consistent across browsers, Chrome got it right, IE nearly right and Firefox was miles off :( So I'm calculating by hand now rather than relying on the browsers, hopefully the LCD fonts should now appear central in all browsers.
I'll be busy at work next week so support may not be as speedy.

These are normal, Cumulus creates tmp copies of every file it process. At least it show both files are being processed...

Are you saying the time in the realtimegaugesT.txttmp is the same? Or the file on your webserver isn't updating? Both point to a misconfiguration in the Cumulus internet files page.

Mark,

I've been playing around with linear gauges using the 0.9.14 library and a problem has popped up.
If I define a linear rain gauge all seems ok, but if I try to define a linear temp or rrate gauge, other gauges show zero.

At present, I can't see any relationship between the two.

Any ideas as to what I've got wrong?

Graeme it is probably because the script is calling a gauge function that exists on radial but not on linear. The radial gauges are the most 'feature rich'. I'm on my tablet again now so I cannot debug at the moment.

Ok. Thanks, Mark.

I'm using this as an excercise to improve my knowledge/understanding of javascript, so I'm bumping about in the dark a bit. ;)

Thinking about it try commenting out the .setTrend that definitely isn't supported on linear gauges
