Hal
It would but not by much, there isn't much room left on the screen. I think some of the Davis forecast strings can be quite long (I can't find the list of them at the mo. - over 100 they say). What I am working on is making the display scroll if the string is too long for the display size - it almost works now, the scrolling starts OK I'm just having a few problems stopping it when a shorter string is displayed!

Presumeably the wind directions have to be transposed for the Southern hemisphere ?

Yes, it looks like the station overwrites the hard-coded wind directions appropriately. Here's a station I've just found in NZ - http://marsden.school.nz/weather/Curren ... o_Plus.htm, which at the time of this posting is showing "Increasing clouds and cooler. Precipitation possible within 6 hours Windy with possible wind shift to the W, SW, or S."beteljuice wrote:Presumeably the wind directions have to be transposed for the Southern hemisphere ?
It's replaced N with S, but left W as is. Perhaps it would replace the W if required. Maybe it does in the Northern hemisphere also?

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
I have always assumed that E / W were transposed as well
Could some Antipodean please confirm if 'bad' weather comes from SE or SW (.. other) ?
If the later then I've got it wrong in the 'Zambretti' forecaster (I think - It was a few years ago)
But most (Southerners) seem to be reasonably happy with the forecasts ...

But isn't it just to do with the passage of pressure systems and the resulting change in wind direction, rather than specifically bad weather?beteljuice wrote:I have always assumed that E / W were transposed as well![]()

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
I've just thought - typical wind directions also 'reverse' for Summer / Winter forecast logic. I think I'll leave it alone unless it can be shown the forecast is significantly awry for those in the southern hemisphere

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
Is this discussion dancing around what is sometimes refereed to as "Prevailing" and/or "Trade" winds? Various locations appear to have their individual "dominant" wind direction.I've just thought - typical wind directions also 'reverse' for Summer / Winter forecast logic. Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
I have a multi-language SS Gauges test page working with static data at: http://www.wheelocknet.net/canvas_g/gauges_ss_9.html
Just click a flag to test. Site links will simply take off to the ether at this point. Special thanks to mcrossley for his SS scripts.
My weather site is down at the moment due to equipment failure. I will test using live data starting August 6 but see no reason why this won't work.
At this point please excuse poor translations. Hoping to improve languages over the next few weeks.

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
I have found it necessary to change the gauges.js code from;
if (document.getElementById('lab_dew1')) {
document.getElementById('lab_dew1').innerHTML = LANG.dew_web;
}
to:
if (document.getElementById('lab_dew1')) {
document.getElementById('lab_dew1').innerHTML = LANG.dew_info_web;
}
circa line 1426
to accommodate the changeLang() function. I believe all the other labels function appear correct.

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
That could have been my mistake...gwheelo wrote:I have found it necessary to change the gauges.js code from...
For some reasons, I have replaced the variable 'LANG.dew_web' with 'LANG.dew_info_web' in the 'gauges.js' script...
But, then, if you look at the 'gauges_french.js' language template, the right variable 'LANG.dew_web' is there...

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
Yes - that led me to the error. I use 6 LANG.js scripts - one for each language. I was trying to discover why only the French worked correctly. The other four language scripts were translation copies of the English script.But, then, if you look at the 'gauges_french.js' language template, the right variable 'LANG.dew_web' is there..
I failed to mention that it was also necessary to change line 50 of gauges_french.js as well so that the LANG.dew.info.web variable was consistent throughout.
Is there anyone willing to check my Dutch, German, Spanish,and Catalan scripts for translation errors! Please!

Re: SteelSeries Gauges - version 1.0
Thanks for the great gauges.
Have one question though
It is now 10pm (2200hrs) and to the left of the countdown to net update it shows SUNNY.
Is there a way to turn the forecast off.
Thanks
Ron
