Here are a couple of mock ups for alternative layouts, what do you think? Note that the linear gauges cannot display all the information that the radial gauges can, but they take up less screen estate.

Hi Mark,
3 quick question
1. I noted in the example code id="gaugeTable was used two times ?
2. to remove logos does all this code need marked out ?
3. var oldGauges = "gauges.php"; if I use ie8 it goes to gauges.htm
Code: Select all
//var g_imgSmall = document.createElement("img");
//var g_imgLarge = document.createElement("img");
//g_imgSmall.setAttribute("src", imgPathURL + "logoSmall.png");
//g_imgLarge.setAttribute("src", imgPathURL + "logoLarge.png");
/
keep up the good work

1. Yes a bit naughty, I should use a className here instead, but because I do not use teh id to reference the tables I get away with it. I'll get it changed sometime.
2. You would be better leaving:
var g_imgSmall = null;
var g_imgLarge = null;
and commenting out the rest, or comment out the lot AND the references in drawTemp() and drawDew().
3. ?? very odd !

Version 1.2.2 just posted...
- 1.2.2
- Updated steelseries.js
- Minor tweak to stop filled 'areas' overlapping shaded 'sectors' on radial gauges
- Minor fix to LED component redraw when changing colour (the halo density used to increase
with each colour change)
- Added shadows to LCD text for a more 3D effect - Standard LCD colour only.
- Optimised the compass rose drawing routines
- Added gauges-altT.htm and gauges-alt.css
- Alternative minimal page without any gauge option buttons, and a 'compressed' layout
- Updated gauges.js
- Removed logo's showing by default

Yet another oddity with the Chrome browser (Chrome on the left IE on the right)...
Untitled-1.jpg
It leaves a gap in the dashed ring! I have stepped through in the debugger and the code is called for the missing section, Chrome just doesn't paint it - Firefox does just like IE. Weird.

Oops, sorry, the original post of 1.2.2 had the HTML files still loading steelseries.js (which I use for debugging) rather than steelseries.min.js file. I have updated the zip - I think only one person had downloaded the original version.

Mark, as I stated before, Google Chrome is (probably) not the only browser having those oddities ... more likely Apple Safari for Windows (since both browsers are using the WebKit as a layout engine).

Ron
You are setting...
var g_imgSmall = document.getElementById("logo");
But the HTML...
<img id="logo" src="myimages/weather_4.png">
Comes in the body of the page, after the script has loaded in the header. So the <img> element has not been created when you make your assignment.
Leave...
var g_imgSmall;
where it is and move...
g_imgSmall = document.getElementById("logo");
into the init() function and you should be good.
EDITED: Rather move the assignment into init(), but leave the declaration outside so it is global.

beau, it seems to be very browser dependent, IE for instance renders it very well,

Chrome quite poorly.
