Ron
My mistake it isn't a div, the image needs to go in the span that contains the dummy text. That should hide it. So...
Code: Select all
</div>
<!-- id content -->
<!-- Hidden span to force early .ttf font download, required for web servers that do not serve .woff files -->
<span style="visibility:hidden; font-family:LCDMono2Ultra">Dummy
<img id="logo" src="myimages/weather_<#forecastnumber>.png" />
</span>
</body>
</html>
I see your image at the bottom of the HTML page, but the gauges.js still has the original code in it?

If you want to do it how Ron is with a semi-dynamic image, then this is one way to get it working:
At the end of the HTML file add your image to the hidden span using a webtag.
Code: Select all
<!-- Hidden span to force early .ttf font download, required for web servers that do not serve .woff files -->
<span style="visibility:hidden; font-family:LCDMono2Ultra">Dummy
<img id="logo" src="myimages/weather_<#forecastnumber>.png" />
</span>
Get Cumulus to process and upload your template as normal.
In gauges.js change lines 80-84 to
Then insert a line in the init() function (say around line 180)
Code: Select all
g_imgSmall = document.getElementById('logo');
And you should be in business.

Hi Mark
I am about to have a play with this. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. I have some further question around the Wind Direction Dial.
1. Can the degrees be shown on the dial in say 5 or 10 degrees increments??
2. i see you have the Average and Current radio buttons below the dial can it also be modified to include more Radio buttons that would change the image overlay between 4 images. for example we have runway 08 and 26 (depends on what end you are coming from) and also 14 and 32 that has an image like attached (from our current provider that we are moving away from) so it can be changed to give the user an indication of the wind direction in regards to the direction of the Plane.
I hope this makes sense

At the moment it just uses the value provided by Cumulus, but there is no reason the script could not round the value to any increment you wanted.

No reason at all, you would be best displaying the average wind direction, and have the radio buttons change the background image. What I have provided is just a template many people modify it to fit their particular needs.
For you it may be better to have a custom version of the compass without the central rose to allow the image to be seen better. That would be fairly trivial to do.

Cheers for the quick reply.
the Increment i was meaning was not the current one but as per the images showing the the degrees right around the outside of the dial.
The idea of the changing the back ground image with raido button is what i am after but it would still be handy to have the pointer as well.
I agree a custom dial without the rose would make it easier to see the overlay and this may even allow the displaying of the degrees as well???
My testing site is here
http://www.teanauairport.co.nz/weather/ ... ges-ss.htm i have modified the gauges.js to putt the data from the actual real time data being provided to the site and also to use a custom image.
my end live site is the same url with out the /testing/
I have some limited knowledge on how the scripting works and may be able to get some help from a mate who knows a bit more but you help and time is much appreciated but i don't want to take to much of it from you.
I will keep playing and see how i get on.
Cheers
Nigel

hello,
these gauges are very impressive, so i decided to install them.
i followed the instructions, but the two files are not uploaded to the remote ftp..
template files are located to c:\cumuluc\web directory, and all settings are according to readme.txt
any suggestions ?

Have you added to the list of files Cumulus will process and ticked both the 'process' and 'ftp' check boxes?

You've used Windows-style backlashes in the remote paths; ftp servers normally require forward slashes. And you've specified an absolute path rather than a relative one; you need to be sure that's correct for the way your web space is set up.

Ah, right, you should really comment out the background image stuff. Lines 80-83, 293, and 327 in the gauges.js file.
I debated whether to leave that stuff in as a demo, or comment it out so people could use the script 'as-is'. I'm thinking I got it wrong and should leave it commented out by default in the next release.

I have posted version 1.2.1 of the scripts. Main changes are to the compass component, which is now configurable to show a degrees scale and show/hide the central rose. This will allow people like Nigel (ferg_nz) to add their own graphics to the compass background. A sample of some combinations is here:
Untitled-1.gif
1.2.1
* Updated gauges.js
- Minor: Changed section colours for temperature and rain rates
- Changed logo images to use the imgPathURL variable for their path.
* Updated steelseries.js
- Added boolean parameters showDegrees and showRose to the compass component
