Rain Display and Averages

Post by howesij »

Hi,

I upgraded to 1.9.1 early April and every since then the Rainfall display has not been correct.

It will show what has has fallen for the day but when it rolls over Yesterday, this month and this year are all zero.

the web update is also showing zero.

However if I select the averages from the Cumulus Menu it show the correct figures.

I have been scouring this forum but it seems no one has this issue.

Software: Cumulus V1.9.1
Weather Station: X7062 (Rebadged MyDEL WX2008 MK 2)
OS: Windows 7 64bit

cheers

You have a problem with your dayfile.txt file:

8/07/2011 19:37:41.868 : Error reading Dayfile at line 9: ''1/'' is not a valid integer value

8/07/2011 19:37:42.107 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 9: ''1/'' is not a valid integer value
8/07/2011 19:37:42.108 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 10: ''2/'' is not a valid integer value
8/07/2011 19:37:42.108 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 11: ''3/'' is not a valid integer value
8/07/2011 19:37:42.108 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 12: ''4/'' is not a valid integer value

this continues to

8/07/2011 19:37:42.113 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 289: ''7/'' is not a valid integer value
8/07/2011 19:37:42.113 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 290: ''8/'' is not a valid integer value
8/07/2011 19:37:42.113 : Error plotting charts from dayfile.txt around line 291: ''9/'' is not a valid integer value

You need to identify and fix the problem(s). Possibly a date format problem caused by editing using Excel or similar? The date format has to be dd/mm/yy. It does attempt to flash the error light and put a message in the error log form when this happens, but because of the order that the system does things when Cumulus starts, it doesn't actually appear. I've been looking for a way around this.

You also seem to have an unrelated problem with your USB connection:

8/07/2011 19:37:32.606 : 7:37:32 PM EWUSB: HidControl Device Unplug
8/07/2011 19:37:32.606 : VID = 1941 PID = 8021
8/07/2011 19:37:32.607 : EWUSB: HidControl Device Removal
8/07/2011 19:37:32.607 : VID = 1941 PID = 8021
8/07/2011 19:37:32.644 : EWUSB: HidControl Device Removal
8/07/2011 19:37:32.644 : VID = 1941 PID = 8021
8/07/2011 19:37:32.644 : 7:37:32 PM EWUSB: HidControl Arrival
8/07/2011 19:37:32.644 : VID = 1941 PID = 8021
8/07/2011 19:37:32.657 : EWUSB: HidControl Device Removal
8/07/2011 19:37:32.657 : VID = 1941 PID = 8021

This happens at the end of every diags file. Windows says that your station has become unplugged. It looks like you're using the 'restart if unplugged' setting, though? It does seem to recover each time.

Thank you for this posting howesij and steve.

It enabled me to fix a problem with my Daily Rain bar graph on the Trends page of my Cumulus webpages.

The bar graph was not displaying properly, and had dates along the horizontal axis going decades into the future!

I looked in the dayfiles and there was an entry of 31/06/99. (my Cumulus/station had been installed for the first time on 30 June, the previous day to the rogue file).
I erased that entry and now all is well.

Hi Steve,

Many Thanks, It fixed the issue.

I can't remember ever editing the file in excel.

the single digit days ended early 2010 so it may have happened.

I have also noticed that my USB disconnects but I can not determine a reason.

this some times causes the reading to my website and Weather underground to flat line until I can restart Cumulus

Thanks again.

Cheers

If your station is a Fine Offset, it would pay to check the solder connections on your desktop console where the USB connector is soldered to the Printed Circuit Board.
Other easier try is to swap the USB Cable but I have never had a faulty USB Cable....yet.
